A & E Baldwin "A" Imprint. This plane, the MADE EXPRESSLY FOR/ SLARK,DAY,STOUFFER & Co.  and the A & E BALDWIN "B" Imprint, are all quirked ogees. The difference is in the size. Notice how the proportion is consistent through the set.

This plane is a beautiful 3/8 quirked ogee with bevel. It is sprung and
boxed. Most interesting is the imprint which reads "MADE EXPRESSLY
FOR/ SLARK,DAY,STOUFFER & Co./NEW ORLEANS/ BY A.BALDWIN &
Co." This is presumably Austin Baldwin, probably Enos' grandson. The
iron is a Dwights French & Co. This is the only plane known to exist with
this imprint and the only plane reportedly made by A. Baldwin & Co.

A & E BALDWIN "B" Imprint. Note the lines for determining the angles to
cut for the profile. The line that travels from bottom right up and to the
left is called a sping line. When using this plane, this line should be
vertical, perpendicular to the work. when the flat portion to the right of
the line contacts the table top, the cut is done. Such a plane is refered to
as being' sprung'.

E. BALDWIN. While this appears to be an A1 imprint, note that there is a
period at the end of 'Baldwin'. Compare this to the plane owned by
A.Mapes And the photo marked 'E.BALDWIN "A1" Imprint'. According to
Pollack III there were only 3 varations of the E.Baldwin imprint. See
what looking closely gets you?

E.BALDWIN WARRANTED This is a variant not listed in Pollak III. The
addition of the 'warrented' makes this a rare plane, posibly one of a
kind. Note also the double boxing, especially the keyed strip on the right.
These strips were placed in places of pressure to prolong the life of the
plane. The were usually made of stong, stable Boxwood, hence the
term, 'Boxed". Owners names "J.J.HORN" "A. MAXWELL"
